Sports Medicine with Katie Macdonald, APRN
My name is Katie Macdonald. I work alongside Dr. Timothy Badwey and Dr. James Halloran as a nurse practitioner (APRN). We treat foot and ankle conditions, as well as sports-related injuries. Sports medicine is one of the things I really enjoy about my job. It can be challenging to treat athletes, but it’s also very rewarding to get them back on the field.
Dickson-Diveley Orthopaedics has a lot of phenomenal physicians who specialize in sports medicine. I work alongside two excellent foot and ankle surgeons. One of them, Dr. Halloran, happens to be fellowship-trained in sports medicine as well.
We treat all types of athletes here at Dickson-Diveley Orthopaedics, including high school athletes, collegiate athletes, weekend warriors, or people who just are active and happen to have an injury.
As with all my patients, I take a holistic approach to medicine. Everybody has different goals and this needs to be taken into consideration when you’re caring for the community. Some patients require extensive rehabilitation, some patients require bracing, some patients require rest. It’s important to listen to each patient’s needs and provide patient-specific care.
