PHYSICIANS
Every surgeon at Dickson-Diveley Midwest Orthopaedic Clinic has completed an additional year of specialty orthopaedic training following their standard orthopaedic residency within their area of interest. This fellowship training is followed by more focus in their practice on a special area of need.

Steven T. Joyce, M.D.
Dr. Joyce is a University of Kansas Medical School and D&D graduate. Joined the clinic in 1978.

Thomas P. Phillips, M.D.
Dr. Phillips is a St. Louis University
Medical School and D&D graduate with a hand fellowship. Joined
the clinic in 1978.

Charles E. Rhoades, M.D.
Dr. Rhoades graduated from the University of Kansas
Medical School (KUMC) in 1978, did an internship at KUMC in Internal Medicine. He completed a residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Kansas and a Fellowship in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery
from the University of California-San Diego. He joined the clinic in July
1984.
Dr. Rhoades has served as President of the clinic from 1986 to the present.

Danny Gurba, M.D.
Dr. Gurba is a University of Kansas School of Medicine graduate, received his orthopaedic training in the University of Missouri-Kansas City Affiliated Program. After a fellowship in Joint Revision Surgery with Richard Rothman in Philadelphia he joined the clinic in January 1985.

Mark Bernhardt, M.D.
Dr. Bernhardt is a University of Kansas School of Medicine graduate, took his orthopaedic training at St. Francis Hospital, Wichita, Kansas, and did a Spine Fellowship at Harvard Medical School. He joined the clinic in January 1990.

Robert C. Gardiner, M.D.
Dr. Gardiner graduated from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City, Kansas, and completed his orthopaedic residency at the University of Missouri -Kansas City. He did a Total Joint Fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He joined the clinic in 1992.

Lowry Jones, Jr., M.D.
Dr. Jones graduated from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City, Kansas, and completed his orthopaedic residency at the University of Missouri -Kansas City. Joined the Midwest Orthopaedic Clinic in 1985. The Midwest Orthopaedic Clinic joined the Dickson-Diveley Clinic in 1993.

Timothy Badwey, M.D.
Dr. Badwey graduated from Tulane University School of Medicine and completed his residency in orthopaedics at the University of Kansas School of Medicine - Wichita/St. Francis. He completed a fellowship in Foot and Ankle Surgery at the Campbell Clinic in Memphis, Tennessee.

Stanley Bowling, M.D.
Dr. Bowling joined the clinic in August of 1999. He is a graduate of the University of Nebraska Omaha Orthopaedic Program

Brian J. Divelbiss, M.D.
Dr. Divelbiss joined the Clinic in the August of 2001. Dr. Divelbiss completed his orthopaedic residency at the Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA, and a Fellowship in Hand Surgery at the University of Iowa, Iowa City.

Thomas L. Shriwise, M.D.
Dr. Shriwise joined the Clinic in August of 2003. He graduated from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City, Kansas, and completed his orthopaedic residency at the University of Missouri -Kansas City. He completed a Fellowship at the University of Toronto in Arthroscopic and Reconstructive Surgery in 1987.

Lan Fotopoulos, M.D.
Dr. Fotopoulos joined the clinic in September, 2004. He is the first Physiatrist to join the Clinic. He graduated from medical school at the University of Missouri at Kansas City in 1992. He honorably served his country in the United States Navy as Lieutenant Commander, Medical Corps, United States Navy, 1997-2000. He completed a residency in Physical Medicine and Physiatry at the University of Kansas in 2003 and a Fellowship in Musculoskeletal Medicine and Invasive Spine Procedures at Washington University, St. Louis Missouri August 2003 through July 2004.

Joshua J. Niemann, M.D.
Dr. Niemann graduated from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska, and completed his orthopaedic residency at the University of Missouri -Kansas City. He did a Trauma Fellowship at Cesase Western Reserve University. He joined the clinic in 2008.

Fermin Santos, M.D.
Dr. Santos joined the clinic in 2010. He graduated from medical school at the University of Kansas in
2005. He completed a residency in Physical Medicine and Physiatry at the University of Kansas in 2009
and a Fellowship in Musculoskeletal Medicine and Invasive Spine Procedures at The Orthopaedic Clinic
Association, Scottsdale, Arizona.

Daniel Firestone M.D.
Dr. Firestone is completing his Fellowship in Hand Surgery at the Indiana Hand & Shoulder Center in Indianapolis, Indiana in July of 2012 and is joining the clinic in August of 2012.
